Scottsdale, Arizona, February 4, 2010 – Robyn Nordin Stowell, a lawyer and partner in the Scottsdale office of Holme Roberts & Owen (HRO) and head of the firm’s Golf Course, Resort and Community Development team, has been selected one of the golf industry’s “Seventeen Most Prominent Women.”
The BoardRoom, the official national magazine for the Association of Private Golf Clubs and Directors, granted the distinction. This is the first time the publication has specifically selected women. While women make up more than half of the U.S. population, they have been significantly underrepresented in the golf industry. “The industry is changing and with the help of these women and others like them, the club industry is taking a giant and positive step forward,” wrote Heather Arias de Cordoba in the magazine’s cover story about each of the women’s achievements.
Ms. Stowell is well-known throughout Arizona and the United States for her in-depth legal knowledge and extensive experience in golf course and private club matters, including golf course and club purchase, sale, and financing. She also advises club members on turnovers from developers or owners to members. She counsels a number of prominent clubs on day-to-day business concerns and significant transactions.
“Robyn is a very thoughtful and collaborative attorney. She brings vast legal and industry experience to bear on each new assignment. She is a creative problem solver who invites parties to find win-win resolutions to the challenges they encounter,” said Henry DeLozier, a golf industry leader. “At my former company, we chose Robyn to represent us after she had thrashed us when she represented a member group in a previous deal. Robyn is smart, hard-working and extremely capable.”
Ms. Stowell was recently honored in Boca Raton, Florida as “Educator of the Year” for her achievement, innovation, vision and positive impact on private club operations and the club industry.
