Holme Roberts & Owen Honored at National MS Society Event

Team Raised $13,961 in Fight Against MS
Denver, Colorado, November 18, 2009 – The National Multiple Sclerosis Society (NMSS) honored a Holme Roberts & Owen LLP (HRO) team that helped raised $13,961 at its Mile High Station Closer to a Cure Celebration on Tuesday, November 17. The HRO team won 1st place, Top Fundraising Corporate Team in Division III (4-15 member teams). Fundraising efforts centered on a June 27-28 sponsored bike ride between Westminster and Ft. Collins, Colorado. Team HRO (comprised of 13 individuals) included four HRO employees, one HRO alumnus, one HRO virtual team supporter, and team family members and friends. The team joined 4,000 plus participants in the Colorado Chapter’s Great-West Life Bike MS, Colorado’s Ride 2009 presented by Sam’s Club.
Katheryn Coggon, Denver Special Counsel and Team HRO captain, hailed the supporters’ and participants’ collective efforts:
“I would like to thank my fellow team members and especially those who contributed to our fundraising. To raise nearly $14,000 is a fantastic achievement, and I am immensely proud of the contribution we made toward successfully attaining NMSS’s $2.9 million Colorado chapter goal. I am especially grateful to our client and former HRO attorney Jan Steiert, now a partner with Electrum USA, for inspiring my involvement. She and her son Jason gave their all as Jan’s husband Bob suffers from MS.”
Co-Captain, Russell La Plante, Ms. Steiert and Jason accepted Team HRO’s award on Tuesday night.
Team HRO also raised additional sums, thanks to its partners’ and suppliers’ generous support. Mr. La Plante, HRO IT Manager and team fundraiser, echoed Katheryn’s sentiments:
“I would like to thank all individuals and organizations who agreed to support us in this worthwhile cause: Dell for a laptop computer donation, and Global Technology Resources Inc. (GTRI), Andavo Travel, and SoftMart for their generous financial contributions.”
