Experience

L. Anthony George, a partner in the Denver office, joined HRO in 2008. His practice focuses on management-side labor relations, employment law, and related litigation. As a published author and frequent speaker on employment issues, Mr. George is viewed as a trusted extension of his clients’ Human Resources Departments. Business leaders rely extensively on his knowledge of employment law compliance and strategize with him to both prevent and de-escalate employer-employee conflicts.

Mr. George provides consultation, advice and litigation services to employers in virtually all aspects of the employment relationship. His labor law experience includes union avoidance, organizing campaigns, contract negotiations, strike planning and injunctions, grievance arbitration, unfair labor practice hearings, and decertification and withdrawal of recognition. His employment law practice covers employment discrimination and harassment, the ADA and FMLA, wage and hour questions, employee benefits, employment contracts, drug testing and privacy issues, and employment-related tort claims. He has represented employers in administrative hearings and arbitrations, state and federal trials, and appellate arguments before state and federal appeals courts.

Mr. George routinely writes and speaks on labor and employment issues to human resource professionals, industry associations, and professional organizations, including presentations for the Association of Corporate Counsel, the Boulder Area Human Resource Association, the Colorado Mining Association, the Colorado Rock Products Association, the Colorado Safety Association, the Council on Education in Management, the Eastern Mineral Law Foundation, Mountain States Employers' Council, the Nevada Mining Association, the Society for Human Resource Management, and the Southwest Safety Congress. He also has extensive experience providing training to managers, supervisors and employees on labor and employment issues, including union avoidance, sexual harassment, hiring and firing, and employment discrimination.

Mr. George is a member of the National Arbitration Forum's Panel of Arbitrators and Mediators. He is the author of "Controlling Legal Costs in Labor Arbitration," published in the June 1999 issue of The Colorado Lawyer, and is a contributing editor of the ABA treatises Employment Discrimination and The Developing Labor Law.
Prior to joining HRO, Mr. George was a Member at Jackson Kelly PLLC.
