Experience

Norv Brasch recently rejoined the trusts & estates team of HRO’s tax group. He began his career at HRO in 1983 and his practice focuses on individual and family business representation, including estate planning (wills, trusts, powers of attorneys and medical directives), estate & gift tax minimization techniques (marital, charitable and insurance arrangements) and strategic guidance for closely-held businesses. Applying his technical background, Norv developed the HRO’s will drafting system, in continuous use at the firm for nearly 25 years.
In his time away from Holme Roberts, Norv was President & CEO of Jurisystems Corporation, which began as an outgrowth of HRO’s Legal Systems Division. At Jurisystems, he developed advanced compliance systems capable of generating the state-by-state documentation and forms to complete discrete legal tasks in a single process. Among its clients were Commerce Clearing House, CT Corporation, Ford Motor Credit and Lexis-Nexis. Most recently, through its Exempta division, Jurisystems assisted nonprofit and governmental entities in maximizing the benefit of their sales tax exemptions.
In 2001, Norv accepted a two-year term as executive director of the fully-endowed Thomas J. Watson (IBM Family) Foundation in Providence, RI. At the Foundation, he oversaw the selection of Watson Fellows from 50 selected liberal arts colleges. Each was provided with a significant grant to pursue independent studies overseas for the year after college graduation. The position also offered the unique opportunity to work with David McKinney, then president of the Metropolitan Art Museum, and the Watson family board members, all deeply committed to creative philanthropy.
