Experience

Steve Nash joined the firm in 2004. He is a partner, Chairs the firm’s Health Care practice, and Co-Chairs the firm’s Health Care M&A Team. Mr. Nash has focused on health and hospital law since 1976 and has practiced on a national basis representing health systems, hospitals, academic medical centers, health information exchanges, health foundations, physician groups and associations, physician practice management companies, health maintenance organizations, preferred provider organizations, skilled nursing and home health providers, ancillary health service providers, purchasers of health care services and life science companies. 

 Mr. Nash regularly advises on matters implicating governance, corporate, reimbursement, tax, fraud and abuse and other regulatory compliance issues. His practice includes corporate transactions, mergers and acquisitions, integrated delivery system development, hospital/physician integration, managed care and health care-related technology. Mr. Nash represents hospitals in single provider and group appeals for Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement, and in this connection, is admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, the 3rd, 4th and 10th Circuit Courts of Appeal and the Provider Reimbursement Review Board. He also serves as lead hospital counsel for hospital revenue and refunding bond issues. 
 
Mr. Nash has a particular interest in working with safety-net providers. He has been instrumental in assisting with the reform of state payment systems for disproportionate share hospitals (including Medi-Cal) and in assisting community health clinics and federally qualified health centers in accessing available funding from federal, state and private sources.
In addition, since joining the firm, Mr. Nash has advised on the planning, organization, governance, tax-exemption, financing, and implementation of Colorado’s state-wide health information exchange.
